NCCU Students Help Support The Carying House and Learn
About Community Engagement
On Friday February 19th 2016, North Carolina Central
University Students Kiana Williams and Kendell Wilson
worked alongside William Frederick, Cary Chapter
President of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship
International to support the Carying House, a non profit
with that offers transitional housing for homeless
families.
After NCCU employee and chapter member Terri Lawson
enlightened the students on the purpose of the Carying
House, the mission of FGBFI, our partnership with the
agency, and their need for volunteers, the students
assisted with moving their first family on Friday and
had an eye opening experience. FGBFI references “moving
their first family” because after the experience, North
Carolina Central University’s Department of Campus
Recreation, where Lawson and the students are employed
have committed to becoming a full partner with the
Carying Place and providing students and staff with more
opportunities to volunteer. Additionally, the students
gained invaluable experience with regards to the
importance of local community engagement.
The Cary Chapter of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship
International is committed to sharing a message of
brotherly love through Christian principles within the
community and one of the chapter's goal is to connect
and partner with members of the community with the
purpose of positively impacting our communities as God
has called of his people.
